yoga in a field.

yoga in the field
{Natarajasana in montana}

i really love this project, specifically this image. i've toyed with the idea of a similar project, but with yoga and more rural locations. i know lots of yogis who would pose for me;) hope your week is going well!!

I love that idea too! It couldn't be more fitting of the entire concept of yoga - becoming more together with yourself and the earth.

You have the beginnings of decent extension on your Dandayamana Dhanurasana, but the ultimate expression of the posture is a standing split. Your stomach needs to be parallel to the ground, not arched up. Your kicked-up leg should be straighter, with one unbroken line from the standing leg to the kicked up leg. Your kicked-up foot needs to be in line over your standing foot, in a straight line right over it rather than 12 inches behind it. Your chin needs to meet your shoulder. You also need to point your toe. Pointing the toe while focusing on getting everything else right is very difficult for the novice yogi, but keep at it. It is tempting to take the path of least resistance, but the way you are doing the posture does not require enough strength or flexibility to challenge you for growth. You will learn this as you become more experienced.

Look at this:

Notice the kicked-up foot directly over the standing foot, the torso almost parallel with the ground and the pointed toe.

Again, the foot over the foot, the stomach parallel to the ground, the legs in a straight line, the toes pointed and the chin at the shoulder.
